Tukico
Tukico is the solo project of Japanese violinist, composer, and electronic music producer Hoshiko Yamane, best known as a member of the pioneering electronic group Tangerine Dream. With Tukico, Yamane bridges classical tradition and electronic innovation, weaving meditative, atmospheric soundscapes from the delicate interplay between violin and synthesized textures.
Trained in classical music in both Japan and Germany, Yamane began her career as a freelance violinist, touring internationally with artists such as Jane Birkin. Transitioning into composition, her solo works under her own name reflect a deep introspective quality, seamlessly fusing classical traditions with modern influences.
As Tukico, she has performed across Europe, North America, Mexico, and Japan, including appearances at major international festivals — most recently MUTEK Barcelona (2025). Her live sets are entirely improvised, unfolding in real time and guiding audiences through immersive, instinct-driven sonic journeys.
Her forthcoming album, ‘Revimeria’, marks her debut release on 130701, the modern classical imprint of FatCat Records, and is scheduled for release on November 14, 2025. Echoing the intuitive essence of her live performances., the album began with instinctive freeform violin improvisations, later layered with synthesizers, ambient elements, and experiments with the baglamas.
‘Revimeria’ was inspired by Yamane’s travels in the summer of 2023, during which she visited ancient archaeological sites across the world—Akrotiri in Greece, Pompeii in Naples, Angkor Wat in Cambodia, Teotihuacan in Mexico, and the Pergamon Museum in Berlin. These encounters with the remnants of long-lost civilizations sparked a profound connection, compelling her to give musical voice to the stories, atmospheres, and silent echoes of the past. Fundamentally, ‘Revimeria’ is a tribute to human endurance – the echoes of humanity that still linger in stone walls and forgotten paths.
Tukico’s previous releases include her debut EP ‘Become’ and first full-length album ‘Primitive’, both released in 2020. With ‘Revimeria’, she continues to explore the emotional and sonic possibilities at the intersection of the organic and the electronic.
